Some Dell tech support reps are giving incorrect info. I was told by a tech support rep that the Dell XPS 8300 can only use 2 hard drives. There were a few others I chat with who said the same thing.
Guys I got my son a Dell XPS 8700 desktop computer for Xmas. He had a 2nd internal hard drive in his old Dell so I'm trying to install it in his new one.
Is anyone familiar with the 8700 because I can't seem to figure out how to mount the drive. The OS drive is mounted directly to a wall bracket that extends from top to bottom of cabinet. There is however a typical bracket that surrounds the the OS drive and slides out after removing screws.
This 2nd hard drive I'm trying to install has to somehow mount to it but I can't see how. The holes on it don't line up in any way with with the bracket and I'm not entirely sure if the circuit board faces out like the OS drive.
I can't find any video's and the manual doesn't explain the procedure clearly enough for me I guess. On his old Dell desktop the drives were mounted to plastic brackets that simply slide in and out.
Probably really simple but can anyone help!
